Well, we have a winner. And it’s certainly not who any of us expected. Cooking the best three course meal of your life without any guidelines can sometimes be more daunting than having guidelines and that led our fan favorite to falter and our egotistical predicted winner to become, well too egotistical. I’ve complained about the outcome here, here and here, but now that I’ve sat down to write this blog, I think I have some different opinions. Here’s why…

It’s time for the Super Bowl and even Top Chef knows it! A clever “football squares”-themed quickfire and a head-to-head chef showdown against past season contestants really brought out the sports in cooking. But I have a confession to make: I think I’m getting sucked into the drama of this show and not completely focusing on the food. I was incredibly frustrated about who wound up on the chopping block this episode because I can’t stand most of the people who were safe from elimination.

A holiday themed episode of Top Chef brings serves up a whole bunch of disappointing food for the judges but ultimately teamwork and holiday sportsmanship on the chefs’ part is rewarded. Not to mention, it couldn’t possibly be the holidays without Martha Stewart!

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. This week chefs had to prepare food for a bridal shower of none other than their very own regular judge Gail Simmons (editor of Food and Wine magazine). First, let me start off by saying that in the previews, I just thought it was a bridal shower Gail was throwing! I didn’t realize it was for her (who is she marrying?) But now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, I have to say that the winner of this challenge was hilariously shocking.
