My roommates and I have decided that we are going to have a Hawaiian party sometime in August. We have already started buying the necessary items- leis, grass skirts, and even a slip n’ slide!- but we still have one thing to decide: what are we going to serve? Read the rest of this entry »

Even though pasta is typically thought of as fatty, I still eat it all the time! Something about noodles and sauce drives me wild! My issue is that I don’t have a lot of time to cook up a gourmet pasta meal. I need quick hitters that don’t take me longer than 30 minutes to cook. Heavy pastas are out too. It’s summer, and I don’t want to be weighed down by food. I want the pastas to be light and full of vegetables. Check out Recipe4Living’s Best 30-Minute Summer Pastas after the jump.

One of my favorite desserts for 4th of July, and in general for the entire summer, is a fruit pie. There are tons of fruits in season during the summer, including a variety of berries. Each one can make a totally delicious pie! I went into the Recipe4Living Encyclopedia of Tips to see if I could get some last-minute fruit pie tips before the barbecue on Sunday. Here’s what I found:

The beginning of summer has officially hit! Monday marked the the summer solstice and the longest day of the year. Summer is my favorite season because of the hot weather and scorching sun. I need my tan! Summer is also an interesting cooking season.
There are fresh fruits, like peaches, plums and all types of berries. Delicious vegetables include corn, cucumbers, beans and tomatoes. Since it’s so hot in the summer, it’s also prime-time grilling season, with burgers, dogs and brats. To make things a little easier this summer, we’ve added a whole bunch of summer recipe collections. Check them out after the jump!

When I last visited Green City Market, the peaches were just beginning to surface. A true symbol of summer, I had forgotten just how sweet and tasty these sun-soaked beauties can be. Have you been tempted by the abundance of peaches in farmer’s markets and in grocery stores like I have? Here’s a list of both sweet and savory recipes to help you make the most of this seasonal treat. And it even goes beyond the ordinary crisps, cobblers or crumbles (hey, what’s the difference between those anyway?) Check it out after the jump!

While I visited Green City Market last fall , I had yet to reap the benefits of their summer produce until this past weekend. And with purple rain carrots (pictured above) to squash blossoms to tables of fresh herbs to the best raspberries I have ever tasted, there was certainly a lot to see (and taste). I wish I lived closer to the market so I’d be able to pick up this awesome produce every weekend but regardless, I’ll definitely make an effort to go back more regularly. I definitely need more of those raspberries.
Check out some other great snapshots and recipes to match after the jump!
