How to Make King Cake

Even if you’re not celebrating Mardi Gras, you have to admit, the King Cake looks pretty awesome. Famous in the South, especially New Orleans, a King Cake looks like a big cinnamon roll filled with cream cheese and covered with sugary icing and colorful sprinkles.

Inside the cake is a small trinket, and the person that gets the piece of cake with the trinket is supposed to be responsible for making or buying the King Cake for next year. If you’re the one making the King Cake, have no fear! We’ll tell you exactly how to make this delicious doughnut-like dessert.

Mardi Gras Munchies!

Mardi Gras is a time for colorful costumes, wild partying, and- of course- scrumptious Cajun fare!  In celebration of Fat Tuesday, which is coming up on March 8th, we’ve put together a few of our favorite Mardi Gras recipes for you.  From the traditional sugar-sprinkled king cake baked with a baby inside (yes, a baby!) to flavorful gator meatballs, we’ll get you well on your way to a festive and food-filled holiday.

Super Fat Pancake Tuesday and all its Holiday Neighbors

We thought the holiday season was over January 1st, but it seems our little “shortest month of the year” has packed a pretty punch.

Not only is today Super Tuesday and Fat (Pancake) Tuesday, it’s Nutella Day too! :) Could there be any more happenings this week?!

As a matter of fact, yes. From Super Bowl Sunday on, February 2008 has had a lot in store and it’s not stopping there: Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday (the beginning of Lent), and Thursday marks the beginning of the Chinese New Year. Not to mention, Valentine’s Day is next week! And then, after all that, we even have a 29th day of February this year which is almost a holiday in itself. Am I missing something? Probably!

So in honor of all the hoopla, I thought I’d help out with the cooking.
