Morgan Makes: Trader Joe’s Green Beans

I was at my friend’s house when I discovered Trader Joe’s Green Beans. These crunchy, salted green beans surprisingly taste just like french fries. And I mean, who could hate a healthy french fry?  They were delicious, but I don’t go to Trader Joe’s very often so I knew that if I wanted to have this tasty snack again, I would have to make it myself. Welcome to Morgan Makes


I’m terrible at cooking. Like, really, really awful. I once almost burned the house down trying to make macaroni and cheese, and that was just while using the microwave. I also can’t spread mustard on bread without getting it all over myself. These are just two simple statistics—among many—that prove I am highly challenged in the kitchen.

The Dinner Club: My Kitchen Away from Home

I don’t know about you, but after I get home from a long day at work I’m not particularly interested in putting on my apron and whipping up a nutritious and delicious five-course meal. So for a while I was scraping by on leftover-surprise casseroles, quick boiled pastas and take out.

On the weekends when I was excited to cook a nice meal, I was constantly being disappointed by the contents of my cabinets. They always seemed to be bursting with obscure and rarely used foodstuff, but when I really needed just a teaspoon of minced garlic, dried basil or onion powder, my spice shelf let me down. There’s nothing worse then going through the trouble of planning a wonderful meal and finding, halfway through the process, that you’re missing that one essential ingredient. I was beginning to despair that I’d never come home to a nice meal again!

And then I discovered the Dinner Club.

That’s right! Your favorite cynical food addict is heading to Austin for the BlogHer Food ’13 Conference! It’ll be my first time in Texas, and you better believe I’ll be getting a cowboy hat.
