The Many Styles of Pizza

What’s not to love about pizza? Oven-baked bread covered with creamy tomato sauce and topped with fresh mozzarella cheese. Just thinking about it, makes my stomach grumble. This food is a hit with most Americans, and rightly so. You can pretty much put anything you want on a pizza and eat it however you choose. Meat, vegetables, seafood; it all belongs on a pizza. In America, there are many regional forms of pizza, and I’ll eat them all.

Lovin’ the Soupbox

Every Tuesday morning, I’m stuck driving into downtown Chicago, attending three back-to-back classes at Loyola University Chicago, hanging around and doing homework for about an hour and then going to a meeting. It’s a long day, to the say the least. Although I usually pack a light lunch to get me through that second class, during my break between classes and my meeting, I always make sure to head down the block to the wonderful little restaurant, the Soupbox.

Make the Switch to Whole Wheat

We’ve all known that whole wheat bread is healthier than white bread, but have you actually made the switch? These days, places like Potbelly’s, Panera and Go Roma are smartening up to the benefits of whole wheat and offering whole wheat bread on sandwiches, whole wheat baguettes as sides, and whole wheat crust for pizza (respectively). And the list doesn’t stop there. Anything that’s made with flour can be made with whole wheat: pastas, cookies, muffins, you name it. So when you have the choice, do you choose whole wheat?

French fries ain’t no fast food – Fried potatoes have become a sort of social class equalizer. It doesn’t matter if you’re a fast food chain, or a high class fancy restaurant, when it comes down to it, everyone just loves french fries! It’s true, when I was in Amsterdam, they served fries everywhere I went.

Soy reduces breast cancer risk - A study of women in Tokyo who regularly eat soy products were proven to have less incidents of breast cancer.

As American as Apple Pie - A Culinary Institute of America poll shows chefs across America’s favorite dessert to make is Apple Pie. Coming in close second is Cheesecake.
