Homemade Vitamin Water

I was a fan of store-bought vitamin drinks for a long time.  I read the promising labels and felt great about my purchase!  Well, at least until I did a bit of research.

Those pre-made vitamin drinks are actually filled with a boat load of sugar and processed ingredients.  As a general rule, I don’t like eating things I can’t pronounce.  Ferric pyrophosphate and anthocyanins, I’m talking about you!

Maker’s 46

Since my Chew on That partner-in-crime Kathryn won’t be blogging this week, I’ll be adding a little something to her spectacular cocktail hour. It’s all about the big-time alcohol known as Maker’s Mark.

Yesterday, my friend John told me a little something about his favorite brand of alcohol. Maker’s Mark which has consistently stayed with the same bottle and awesome red wax seal for years, has released a new version of its popular drink called Maker’s 46. This is huge news since the Maker’s Mark Distillery has only come out with one product (the traditional one) in the last 50 years.

Cocktail Hour: The Raspberry Orange Kamikaze Cocktail

Lately, I have not been able to find many cocktails on Recipe4Living that fit the ingredients that I have in my apartment.  The only main spirits I have are vodka and tequila, so until I buy some rum or gin, I’m a bit limited in what I can make.  So I went on the lookout for something- anything!- that I could throw together.  What I ended up finding was the recipe for a shot called a Raspberry Kamikaze.  I added some orange juice to make it a full drink, and the result was what I like to call a Raspberry Orange Kamikaze Cocktail!
