Recently, my parents invited me out to dinner to get some Thai food. They suggested we go to Bodhi Thai, which was in a most unlikely location: Berwyn, IL. Berwyn is an up-and-coming area, but it is definitely not known for its high-quality dining. I was a bit nervous, to say the least. When I got there, I knew I was wrong. Read the rest of this entry »

According to Zagat’s recent fast food survey, America has a clear winner when it comes to their favorite burger. That winner is Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Although Five Guys didn’t even make it into last year’s top 5 list, this year it overtook many popular chains to become the “best burger in America.”

I’m not a huge ice cream person. I’m not one of those who always has a cone in their hand on a hot summer day. Gelato, on the other hand, I can’t get enough of! A couple of summers ago, a new gelato place opened up by my house and once I tried it, I knew I was hooked. It was called Paciugo. Read the rest of this entry »

It all started on the granite countertop in my oldest friend’s kitchen. I was calmly sipping on a latte when I eyed the stack of catalogs idly waiting to be sorted along with the mail. Sitting innocently at the top of the stack was the Zingerman’s food catalog, a charming character, unassuming and shy about the treasures that lay inside. I picked it up. “Have you heard of Zingermans?!” yelped my friend sitting next to me. I shook my head, only to ignite a sea of praise about the jams, cheeses, breads, meats, baked goods (the list goes on) that hail from Zingerman’s.

Today I’m going to review a little restaurant called Francesca’s Intimo that I’ve come to adore in the last few months. I’ve actually only been there twice but it’s become a fast favorite and the easy choice for a nice dinner, or say, a date. It’s actually part of a long line of Francesca Restaurants all located in Chicago but so far, Intimo (located in Lake Forest) is the only one in my repertoire (it’s hard to believe I haven’t yet been to the one in Northbrook).
I think you probably figured out by now that I think the food is outstanding, or else I wouldn’t be writing about it. It’s authentic, really fresh, and overall delicious. They change their menu every week, incorporating homemade pasta, fresh Italian cheese, and sauces that are to die for. I never realized how much I liked real Italian food until I came here. I think that says a lot.
See a rundown of my most recent meal and all the delicious food photos after the jump!
