How I Became A Meat Eater

I remember the exact moment when I forsook my vegetarian ways. It was July 5, 2003. I was in some little town in the middle of nowhere with my boyfriend (now ex) and his family. They had invited me to celebrate the holiday with them, and I had a great time. We rode in an old 50s car that was mint green and we fed their horses. Plus, we lit off sticks of dynamite. I thought I was going to go deaf! But, as the day went on, my stomach started to make strange noises. It was calling for food!

Luckily, dinner was about to be served. But there was a major problem. We’d be eating hamburger and hot dogs. That was it. Immediately, I panicked. I was already pretty hungry, and there was no way I could deal with not eating until we returned home late that night. So I loaded a cheeseburger with ketchup, and I ate it as fast as possible. After the initial shock wore off, I realized that the burger was pretty darn delicious. And the rest is history…

The Hamburger Bed

The Houston Chronicle gave an ode to the burger so we will too. Yes, we are blogging about the hamburger bed. How could we not? I don’t know about you but the idea of snuggling up in some cheese, lettuce and tomato-colored sheets atop a brown patty mattress and warming up with a top bun comforter (complete with sesame seeds!) gets me extremely excited.
