The Taste of Greece

Over the weekend, my boyfriend, Paul, and I visited the Taste of Greece in downtown Chicago. We were both craving some Mediterranean food, and this was a perfect opportunity for a midday date. Located on Halsted St. in Greek Town and running about 4 blocks, the Taste of Greece was dominated by food stands. Vendors were also selling jewelry and religious items and there were lots of disc jockeys and bands. Find out what we ate, and how the Taste of Greece rated after the jump.

Heritage Harvest Festival

The annual Heritage Harvest Festival will be held on September 11, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Thomas Jefferson’ Monticello in Virginia. The festival is perfect for foodies, vegetable lovers and those always looking to learn more about healthy eating and recipes!

The festival will honor Thomas Jefferson’s legacy as America’s first foodie and local produce enthusiast. The president championed vegetable cuisine, plant experimentation, and sustainable local agriculture.

Ribfest Naperville ‘10!

Chicagoland’s biggest and most popular Ribfest is located in Naperville, IL.  It not only features lip-smacking ribs, but it also has carnival rides, big name musical acts, and a whole lot of crazy foods! I had never attended Ribfest before, so last weekend, I decided to give it a shot.

Paula Deen Supports the Louisiana Seafood Industry

If you thought that the BP oil  spill throughout the Gulf of Mexico didn’t affect the food and cooking industry, you were wrong. But it’s probably not what you think. The misconceptions that Louisiana seafood is now unsafe or unavailable is actually hurting the area’s seafood industry more than the actual oil spill itself.

Luckily, world renown chef, Paula Deen, the queen of southern cooking, and John Besh, a cookbook author and a celebrated chef of New Orleans, are joining together to garner some excitement for the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience which begins today, according to an article in the Associated Press.
