Pepsi’s New “Green” Bottle

Pepsico made waves last month as they unveiled their “Skinny Can” for Diet Pepsi. Now Pepsi has revealed a new container, but this one is getting press for the right reasons. Pepsi’s new plastic bottle is completely made out of plant material.

The container is the world’s first 100% plant-based PET bottle, and is actually made of switch grass, pine bark, corn husks and a variety of other natural materials. The bottle is also 100% recyclable and petroleum-free. While I haven’t held the bottle yet, Pepsi reports that the bottle feels and protects the bottle the same way as the old plastic version.

Dr Pepper, the oldest major soft drink in America, celebrates its 125th anniversary of being served today. The first time Dr Pepper was served was at Morrison’s Old Corner Drug Store in Waco, Texas. Since then, Dr Pepper has become super-popular and a favorite of those who prefer something a litter different than Coca Cola.

“The enduring success of Dr Pepper can be attributed to its unique flavor and ability to connect with generations of fans. Fans of the brand view it as an exceptional and refreshing way to express their own uniqueness,” said Dave Fleming, director of marketing for Dr Pepper.
