From my experience, Mexican food can be really good or really bad. Luckily, on my trip to Arizona, I got to experience the authentic Mexican food that everyone should try once in their life. On our first night in Arizona, we drove to Scottsdale to eat at Frank & Lupe’s. And this food was incredible! Check out more after the jump!

Tonight I’m catching a flight with my sister, mother and two aunts to Arizona. My mom is turning 50 in a couple weeks, and we all decided that a little vacation would be a fun way to celebrate. While we’re in Arizona, we’re hoping to lay out by the pool for hours, visit a spa, go hiking and eat lots of Southwestern-style food. When I was a kid, my mom was pretty adamant about fasting during Lent. That meant no meat at all, which was fine since I was a vegetarian at the time, and limited amounts of cheese. What??
Vegetables were my worst enemies as a child. I avoided anything green and leaf-like, and if I had to eat one, it was going to be a potato. So when Lent would come around every year, I’d always fall back on the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It’s simple, it’s tasty and you can eat it during Lent.
