Top Chef Episode 1: House of Chef-presentatives

After watching the first episode of Top Chef, I think it’s safe to say that this season is definitely promising. Taking place in Washington, DC., the previews include Nancy Pelosi and tears in the kitchen. Two things I’m eager to see! Even though there are so many cheftestants (17 to start with), so far there are definitely some front-runners. But let’s just begin with the quick fire.

Bravo’s Top Chef

Lucky for us foodies out there in need of a reality TV fix, Bravo’s Top Chef returns tomorrow in Washington, D.C. for the ultimate cooking showdown. Make sure to check out the premier at 9/8c. This is the show’s seventh season, and all of the regular judges are back.

Yes, Eric Ripert, Tom Colicchio, Padma Lakshmi and Gail Simmons will be there to roast and toast the 17 new contestants. What’s up for grabs? Well, these lucky chefs will be competing for a prize of $125,000 and the title of Top Chef. I read through the biographies of the new contestants, and while you can’t judge a book by it’s cover, I’m going to dish on what my initial reactions and expectations for them are.

Top Chef

I don’t know about you, but I am an avid viewer of Top Chef (not to mention, just an all-around Bravo fan!). I make it my business to catch every episode of the show, if not once, as many times as possible. Somehow, that standardized reality TV formula they’ve got over there at Bravo sucks me in every time. I’m beyond addicted.

Anyway, I am greatly anticipating tonight’s competition between seasons 1 and 2’s casts (to air at 10/9 CST). It takes me awhile to adjust to new people so anytime shows bring back older casts, I’m a happier camper. This sendoff into the third season (to premiere next Wednesday) has got me wondering, “which cuisine reigns supreme” (totally stolen from Iron Chef, ok I LOVE cooking competitions)? Will it be Ilan’s saffron coma-inducing concoctions? Or will Harold’s laidback all-American and hearty style prevail? Yes, those two are the leaders of the season’s packs and if my instincts serve me well, I predict some sort of “throwdown” between the two Top Chefs.

TUNE IN and let me know what you think!
