Though summer doesn’t officially hit until June 21, Memorial Day weekend has always been the unofficial start of summer in my book. That’s because the local swimming pool opens and I start eating lots and lots of grilled food! But do you know what Memorial Day is really about?
This holiday is observed on the last Monday of May and commemorates all the United States women and men who have died in military service. Usually, we host a small BBQ at my house or at my aunt’s every Memorial Day. We’re still debating if we’re going to do it this year since my grandmother passed away last week, but I still want to give you a fabulous meal planner to get you ready!

Yesterday, I told you about the life-changing taco dip I made for my housewarming party, and today I’m going to share another fun and easy recipe I made: sweet & spicy cranberry meatballs. If you would have mentioned the word edamame to me a couple years ago, I probably would have stared at you with a blank expression. But one of the perks of being an editor for Recipe4Living is that I get to explore the site, find new ingredients and search for delicious recipes to use them in.
Edamame has quickly become one of my favorite snacks. While I prefer to buy them already de-shelled, it’s much thriftier to just peel them out of the pods yourself. Keep reading for more fun facts on edamame…or soybeans!
