It’s Time I Got KIND
Granola bars are a go to snack in my house. Boxes of every flavor they offer literally line my countertops. They are so easy to just throw in your bag and save for that 2:00 post-lunch/pre-dinner snack. I also eat one in the morning as a quick breakfast snack. My problem? Granola day after day can get pretty boring let me tell ya. So I thought I’d switch gears and test out these KIND fruit and nut bars that I found at the grocery store.
For starters they come in tons of different flavors including: Blueberry Pecan + Fiber and Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate + Protein. Yum! They have that fresh, natural taste that is lacking in most granola bars. You can actually see all the ingredients that go into the bars as well. Instead of chopping the nuts to unrecognizable bits, they leave them whole and stick ‘em together with honey for a sweet addition to the snack.
My favorite flavor so far is the Cranberry Almond + Antioxidants. It’s crunchy, sweet and flavorful, in my opinion, the perfect snack. You can actually distinguish each and every flavor and the added benefits of antioxidants in this bar and the other goodies like fiber and protein in others are unbeatable. It’s all the goodness of one of those giant fruit smoothies in one simple bar.
I swear the granola gods have finally listened to my cries by sticking all that natural goodness into a convenient bar form.
Plus: they are actually good for you! It doesn’t get much better right? Most are gluten free and come with boosts of antioxidants, fiber ad such. They list all the benefits clearly on each individual package, too, no guessing game here.
Ever since I tried these little guys, I now see them everywhere. From the grocery story, to the Starbucks counter even to some gas stations, KIND is taking over.
I also wanted to see if I could make something like these at home. I tried mixing together honey, almonds, puffed rice and chopped pieces of dried apricot and popping them in the fridge for about 30 minutes. While they weren’t as glamorous as KIND snacks, they got the job done. They only thing they lacked were the added benefits found in the KIND bars, but a solid healthy snack nonetheless if you’ve got the time!
