Seasonal Dishes from Noodles & Co.
The other night I stopped by my local Noodles & Co. for a late dinner. When I approached the counter I was immediately took back my go-to order when I saw their new Seasonal Dishes from Your World Kitchen summer items. Needless to say, I had to try and tell you about them.
Now, I love Noodles & Co. Pasta is my favorite food and not having to make it myself. It’s a treat. Needless to say their flavor combos are something I try making at home, but alas I can never seem to get right. My favorite dish from Noodles is the Pasta Fresca. It is Penne with balsamic, olive oil, white wine and roasted garlic, red onion, tomato and spinach, parmesan or feta. I opt for the parmesan and extra parmesan on the side. It’s my absolute favorite dish. (If you want to try it at home, try our Copycat recipe here!)
I had my mind made up before I even walked in the building. Then when I was about to order I noticed the new summer items from their Seasonal Dishes from Your World Kitchen. They featured their Summertime Flatbread and Garden Pesto Sauté. They looked delicious and in my flavor wheel house so I tried them.
The Summertime Flatbread is a crisp flatbread appetizer topped with naturally raised pork, charred corn, feta, spinach, tomatoes and parmesan. I got it without the pork (just an FYI I am a longtime Pescatarian or a vegetarian who still eats fish). I found out that is the only substitution that can be made to the flatbread. It was really good. I always like Noodles & Co.’s flatbread. Topped with tasty spinach, tomatoes and parm it was awesome. The charred corn was a little weak on the flavor scale but I like the bright color and slightly sweet flavor I got from it.
And the Garden Pesto Sauté consisted of charred sweet corn in a light lemon Genovese pesto tossed with gluten-free fusilli noodles, red bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, pecans, spinach and feta. I substituted the gluten-free noodles for the regular ol’ penne. But it was really tasty and not too filling if I can say so. The pesto was perfecto. The corn wasn’t hidden or overpowering and the mushroom, onion, spinach and feta combo is an all-around fave in my book.
Needless to say, I will be getting these great items again. Well, until they change out their seasonal menu. I am excited to see what autumn will bring us when it comes to the Seasonal Dishes from Your World Kitchen at Noodles & Co.
