Summer S’mores With a Twist

After a recent bonfire mishap, I was on the hunt for s’more recipes that didn’t involve making a fire. I found three bonfire-free s’more recipes definitely worth sharing.

Making s’mores is a summer staple, but if you’re like me and tend to attract disaster, then a bonfire isn’t always the best idea. Case and point, last week on the fourth of July, I almost burnt my house down trying to make s’mores. The fire was taking an extra long time to get going, so I decided it would be a good idea to throw more chunks of the starter brick into the fire. Not smart.

The fire got bigger and I started to freak out. I ran upstairs to wake up my mom because I knew she would be able to handle it. Keep in mind, this is after she gave my friend and I a play by play on how to handle a fire (I knew I should have listened to her speech). Anyway, she successfully calmed down the fire and then we all ate s’mores in peace. If only I had known how to make a s’more without a fire.

S’mores Pudding Cake: No hands needed when eating this treat. And no fire. Perfect for me and all you clean freaks out there.



  • 4 C. chocolate custard
  • 4 sleeves of graham crackers
  • 3 C. mini marshmallows
  • 1 13-ounce jar marshmallow crème

Chocolate Custard

  • 6 oz. semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 3 Tbs. cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 C. cream
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 C. sugar
  • 2 C. whole milk
  • 1 tsp.  pure vanilla extract

S’more Stuffed Strawberries: If you like chocolate covered strawberries, then you’ll love this!

  • 4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 Tbs. of butter
  • 1/2  C. of heavy cream
  • 5 egg yolks


  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4  teaspoon of cream of tartar
  • 1/2 C. of corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. of vanilla
  • 1/4 C.  sugar, granulated
  • 1 Tbs. sugar


  • Extra large strawberries
  • Graham cracker crumbs
  • Tbs. butter

S’more Bars: I can’t wait to try this recipe! It seems the closest to actual s’mores, but without the hassle!


  • 1/2 C. butter, room temperature
  • 1/4 C. brown sugar
  • 1/2 C. sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 1/3 C. all purpose flour
  • 3/4 C. graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 king-sized milk chocolate bars (e.g. Hershey’s)
  • 1 1/2 C marshmallow creme/fluff (not melted marshmallows)
