Dip it good: secrets to a killer dip party
Every time I throw a get together at my place, I stress over the food. As a host you want to serve something that looks amazing but easy to execute. This conundrum typically results in me scouring pinterest for quick and easy party recipes, but often finding that the best ones usually involve some form of crafting that I don’t have time for.
So when I was planning my birthday party last year, I knew I had to take a different approach. After all, who wants to be stressed with food preparation on their own birthday? Something I noticed during my recipe search was the countless number of dips. I thought to myself, what if I just served a slew of dips? It’s quick, easy, and who doesn’t love a good dip? Genius.
I think we all know how this story ends. My dip party was an absolute hit. My guests were full, satisfied, and very complimentary of my creativity. Who knew? So if you’re interested some new party food ideas, allow me to share my dip party secrets with you:
Play up the season
If you’re throwing a party this summer, perhaps avoid the hot or heavy dips with a lot of meats and cheeses. Instead pick your favorite fruit and design a dip around it. For instance this Strawberry Fruit Dip recipe is perfect for the summer months. My birthday happens to be in the fall so for my party I made a dip featuring one of my favorite autumn ingredients: pumpkins.
Go sweet AND savory
Don’t you hate deciding between sweet and savory dishes when you’re out to eat? It’s so hard. Fortunately at your dip party, you don’t have to decide. Sweet and savory dip combos give you the best of both worlds. Here are some of my favorite pairings:
If you’re looking for something light:
If you want to indulge:
If you want to be unique:
Choose multi-purpose dipping snacks
In addition to being easy to make, dips can be easy on your wallet. Save yourself the cost and hassle of getting a different snack for each dip. When choosing your dips, think about what snacks would be suitable for both. For instance, apples and strawberries would be delicious with both a fruit dip and a cheese dip. Tortilla chips are great accompanies to both a spinach dip and a buffalo chicken dip.
Remember, dip parties are a great way to experiment with different recipes without the hassle. Your guests will love the variety and you’ll appreciate the stress-free food preparation. Happy dipping!
