My 5 Favorite Low-Calorie Summer Treats

After a long, hot summer day I like to treat myself to a delicious dessert after dinner. I’m often on a health kick during the summer months, so I try and stick to low-calorie sweets. I used to think there wasn’t anything out there that was yummy enough for my taste buds and didn’t go over 400 calories, but boy I was wrong. Over the years I’ve discovered which low-calorie treats beat the rest, so naturally, I had to share them with you!

Whipped Topping Sandwich: This is my favorite low-calorie DIY dessert that is easy enough for my baking-challenged self to whip up in a matter of minutes. And yes, that pun was intended. I learned about this treat from a friend who used to bring them to the pool all the time. All you need is some reduced-fat graham crackers and some fat-free whipped topping. Break the graham crackers in half and place two tablespoons of whipped topping on one half. Place the other half on top of the whipped topping making sure not to push too hard. Repeat until you have your desired amount of sandwiches and then place them in the freezer for a few hours, or overnight. I would suggest not making too many at a time because they’re addicting!

Minute Maid Frozen Lemonade Ice Pops: I’ve been eating these every summer for so long that I can’t even remember the moment I first had one. These are my favorite summer popsicle and they are only 70 calories a pop. If you like a super sweet, almost sour popsicle, then these are the perfect treat for you! They are very refreshing and perfect for a hot day.

Sour Cream and Brown Sugar Dipped Strawberries: This is a classic summer treat that my mom has been serving since I was little. Just take a strawberry, dip it in some sour cream (greek yogurt is a great healthier alternative) and then dip it again in brown sugar. It’s a perfect low-calorie and easy treat to bring to a barbecue or back yard get together. It’s also a pretty filling dessert, so it will satisfy your sweet tooth without going too far.

Chobani Greek Yogurt Bite: This is a more recent favorite of mine. My sister got them on a whim because they were on sale and I’ve been having one everyday since. The only flavor I have tried so far is the coffee with dark chocolate chips and it is delicious. It is perfect because it satisfies my chocolate craving without the calories of a candy bar. They have three other flavors, including raspberry with dark chocolate flavor that I can’t wait to try.

Skinny Cow Ice Cream Bars: Skinny Cow is my favorite brand for ice cream bars because I don’t feel like I’m eating low-calorie ice cream. They are so good and only 110 calories a bar, so I can get my ice cream fix without feeling guilty. I love the cookies ‘n’ cream flavor, but they also have a limited edition pink velvet flavored ice cream bar topped with a cream cheese flavored drizzle that I need to get my hands on asap!

I’m always looking for more low-calorie summer treats, so let me know some of your favorites in the comments below!
