Weird Food News

So, Mountain Dew is releasing a breakfast drink. I know what you’re thinking “Oh, that’s just !@$%* gross,” and that’s exactly what I’m thinking too. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good diet Mountain Dew once in awhile, but a breakfast drink that tastes like it is just disgusting. To me, it’s like starting the day by saying, “Good morning, self. Let’s give up before we even begin.” That’s exactly how I want to start my day, by being kicked in the mouth by Mountain Dew.
The Huffington Post is reporting that UK officials have stated that a horse drug may have gotten into the tainted meat of fast food restaurants. Now don’t worry, this issue is only for Europe and America is still one of the safest places to eat meat. If I wasn’t going vegetarian for a Recipe4Living feature, though, that’d make me think twice before my next cheeseburger. This drug is an anti-inflammatory that is NOT approved for use in humans. I don’t know about you, but if I were in Europe I’d totally be making my burgers at home for a long time.
My final bit of food news for today is that the renowned tea maker, Numi Organics, has come out with a line of savory teas. If it strikes you as strange, good, it struck me as strange too. So, of course, I had to try them. The flavors in the garden sampler are Beet Cabbage, Carrot Curry, Spinach Chives, Broccoli Cilantro, Tomato Mint, and Fennel Spice.
Totally weird, right? Well, before I drank the Carrot Curry flavor I told myself this was a broth and not really a tea, and it was easy to drink. It was delicious! They totally shouldn’t call them teas, that’s what caused my initial reaction. Instead of sugar, I put some salt into it because it didn’t have enough for my liking. How’s that for weird?
