Who Won? ‘The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs’ Season 4 Winner!

Who took home the top title as ‘The Next Iron Chef’ on last night’s finale? Keep reading for the winner and all the finale’s details!

Like an old-school country western, the longest-lasting contestants (Geoffrey Zakarian of New York and Elizabeth Falkner of San Francisco) stood their ground and took on the final challenge (minus the gunslinging): creating a holiday feast using the typical ‘Iron Chef’ secret ingredients. The two masters had to utilize ingredients like beef roast, clemetines and candy canes to create three Christmas-themed plates that would impress judges Simon Majumdar, Michael Symon and Judy Joo (also joined by long-time Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto and Iron Chef Bobby Flay).

About 15 minutes into the competition, a very Top Chef-esque surprise challenge was added: the chefs had to incorporate cranberries into their holiday creations. Luckily for Zakarian and Falkner, they were able to choose a sous chef to help them complete their tasks, and they agreed on their ‘Chopped’ co-host Alex Guarnashchelli.

Once 30 minutes elapsed, another curve ball was thrown: the chefs also had to come up with a frozen concoction using the ever-loved Iron Chef ice cream machine. Naturally, you see what was was coming—with only 15 minutes left, the chefs had to come up with a holiday-themed cocktail to cap off their meal. Always surprise after surprise when it comes to good finale foodie television!

In the end, Zakarian edged out Falkner and was humbled by the experience and title. While Falkner specializes in dessert dishes, Zakarian has long been an expert with a variety of talents, most evident to the masses by his careful critiques of contestants on the terrific show ‘Chopped’.
