Our daughter Hannah, 6 1/2, LOVES carving jack-o-lanters and adding details with paint and accessories. This year, she chose to carve her jack-o-lantern into a baby, complete with top-of-the-head ponytail (pumpkin stem) tied with pink ribbon and a pink pacifier.

My little girl loves to see the festive colors and decorations. Although she doesn’t go trick or treating, our family has a special tradition of having pizza and a family movie together complete with pop corn. I didn’t mention she has Down syndrome, but she loves to cook and this costume would thrill her to pieces!!

My daughter Maggie’s favorite thing to do for Halloween is watch her big sister carve the pumpkin. Then she gets to clean and cook the pumpkin seeds with mom!

My son Korri’s favorite part of Halloween is a toss up. He loves dressing up as something else. We pick out his costume a month in advance and either buy it or I sew it for him. Once it is bought or made he wants to wear it every day and every where. But he also loves helping carve pumpkins and toasting the pumpkin seeds. This year we plan on having 3 regular sized stencil carved pumpkins and 4 small with painted ghoul faces on them.

My granddaughter, Maggie, age 5, loves to watch the old Halloween movies of Sesame Street. Maggie enjoys looking at the pictures of her mommy, Dawn, when her grandfather Brian, made her a Rubic Cube Costume. She also enjoys the pictures of Aunt Rachel when she was little, and Papa Brian made her a costume entiitled, “Queen of Hearts.” This year Maggie is going to be a rock star.

A new little girl down the street from her in Gainesvile, VA was invited by Maggie to go Trick or Treat with her. This is Madison’s first Trick or Treat
in the neighborhood. Maggie thinks of everyone before her ownself which includes her big brother, Ben.

My kids favorite part of Halloween is the fact that they get to dress up in costumes. My one son doesn’t even like candy – he just wants to wear a costume and be involved in the event. h

I’m sure she would say the trick or treating. We have a lot of fun coming up with costumes though. We usually make them all ourselves. It’s fun being creative.

My 4 year old granddaughter loves to help decorate for Halloween. We have several little lighted ghosts, mummies, and a Frankenstein that we put in our front yard. We have purple lights for the trees, and some hanging bats as well. We string “webs” and add spiders. Of course it isn’t complete without a few jack-o-lanterns! When she returns from trick-or-treating she likes to see the other kids reactions as they come to the door.
