  7. I use fresh all summer and canned in the winter. Vine ripe are the absolute bomb. My fav tomato comfort dish is so easy. Pat of butter in sauce pan. Add chopped onion and celery. Salt generously. Add water and egg noodles. Boil until al dente. Drain. Add butter using same sauce pan. Add canned or fresh tomato wedges. Pour noodle mixture back in and stir. Put lid on, turn heat off and let sit for few minutes. There you have it. Meemaw’s Noodles and Tomatoes.

  57. I have been raised on almost every kind of tomatoe grown. From the old Heirloom tomatoes to the modern versions today. From the pizza, pasta, and burgers of my youth to housewife and mother stage where the tomatoe was the glue to the dinner menu.
We grew tomatoes in everthing from a large garden to a small one and then to the container garden of today! No tomatoes can get away from us or us them.
    I have canned tomatoe juice,pickled green tomatoes,tomatoe relish,big,fat,juicy whole tomatoes,tomatoe catsup,tomatoe pie red and green,herbed tomatoe bread/biscuits,tomatoe sandwiches,tomatoe salad,tomatoe soup..breath!haha
I have used canned tomatoes, dried, wether red, yellow, orange, brown or white.
My family as eaten then all throughout the years either by necessity or by choice.I have eaten them from childhood through the guru and housewife years and into my now grandma and retirement years.
Now I can once again experiment and learn more about how to use the newest tomatoes and relax with the good old standby’s.
The tomaoe will always be number one in our gardens. I still can anticipate the first rich, ripe tomatoe off the vine with the memory of the juice sliding down my arm on that carefree childhood time! Tomatoes are a cook’s BEST friend!
