Product Reviews: Wholly Wholesome, Near East, Nature’s Path & COCOBrain Chocolate Truffles!

These offerings are all good for you. From couscous and wheat pockets to wholesome cookies and healthy chocolate alternatives, these products are all terrific choices for anyone who is trying to eat healthy without sacrificing taste! Read on to see what products you should be trying to get your brain thinking and your body moving!

Here is what one of our editors had to say about Nature’s Path: What I liked most about the Crunchy Vanilla Sunrise was its variety of textures.  There were round puffs, rice puffs and flakes, making for a fun and crunchy eating experience.  The vanilla flavor was very strong, and the cereal was so sweet that it tasted almost like a children’s cereal!  I love that the cereal is sweetened naturally, though, and made up of  natural ingredients. Their Mesa Sunrise cereal has always been gluten-free and a source of Omega-3, with flax, corn and amaranth. The flakes are crisp and crunchy and it is certified organic to boot!

The Wholly Wholesome ready-to-bake cookies really took the guesswork out of baking.  The cookies were already individually separated, so I didn’t even have to measure out the dough!  The oatmeal raisin cookies were soft and flavorful, and the chocolate chip cookies were crisp and crunchy. The cookies were made with 70% organic ingredients, all of which I recognized on the box. The same could be said for their Organic Pie Shells, which made a wonderful base for my cheesecake. They were easy to bake and came out flaky and delicious.

The Wholly Wholesome Wheat Pockets were also amazing. I toasted one and filled it with strawberry jam and it made a perfect breakfast. For lunch, I cut one in half and used it for PB&J. The options are endless for using these pockets, and they are so healthy!

The Near East Toasted Pine Nut Couscous was by far the easiest and quickest side dish that I’ve ever made.  They weren’t kidding when they said it cooks in 5 minutes!  I grilled some chicken, threw in some peas, and my meal was ready in less than 10 minutes.  The couscous also had a great flavor and was made from natural ingredients, which made it even more appealing.  I would definitely make this again; it really came in handy when I was looking for a quick and easy dinner.

CocoBrain offers a gluten-free dark chocolate truffle reminiscent of one of my favorite holiday treats. At only 56 calories per truffle, these were both satisfying for my sweet tooth and also stimulate grey matter with DHA, folic acid and vitamins A, C, D3 and E. Dark chocolate is such a wonderful option and it is such a great alternative to milk chocolate, which doesn’t have any of its benefits. This makes an easy afternoon snack or even a quick dessert option.
