My 5 Favorite Road Trip Foods
On Friday, I’m going on a road trip with a friend. It’s our 4th annual trip to Cedar Point Amusement Park in Ohio, and I can’ t wait! It’s a 5 hour car ride, which isn’t super long, but I always get pretty hungry along the way. That’s why I’m going to tell you about the 5 road trip snacks that I always take with me!
Unless you’re bring a cooler, the foods you take on your road trip will have to be non-perishable. They should also be easy to eat (whether you’re the driver or the passenger) and I also prefer them to be relatively healthy. Here are my top picks for road trips:
1. Pretzels/Pretzel Chips
Unlike ordinary potato chips, pretzels and pretzel chips aren’t loaded with grease and fat. They have enough flavor that you won’t need to dip them in anything, and they are simple to grab and munch.
Apples are great because they don’t need to be refrigerated, they don’t require peeling, and you can eat them with one hand. They’re also a much healthier option than lots of other foods you’d usually eat on the road.
3. Granola Bars
Look for granola bars with a high fiber content; they’ll keep you full for a long time and release energy slowly throughout the day. Try to avoid granola bars full of sugar, as a sugar crash while you’re driving could mean bad news.
4. Bottled Water
Ok, this isn’t a snack, but drinking water on a road trip will keep you hydrated and also fight hunger. The only downside? Bathroom breaks!
5. Trail Mix
Nuts and berries are full of protein, vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats, making trail mix a yummy and smart snack choice. Here’s a tasty trail mix recipe that includes some chocolate and coconut as a sweet treat!
