Hi, My Name is Kathryn and I’m a Tea-aholic.
While there’s no one food that I eat on a “several times daily” basis, there is definitely one drink that I can’t get enough of: tea. I drink it pretty much all day, every day. It’s practically calorie-free, it tastes great, it’s healthy, and there are so many flavors that you’ll never get bored of it!
I attribute much of my tea-drinking affinity to the 4 years I spent living in Scotland. In the UK, tea is not just a drink- it is SO much more. First off, it is a comfort. Whenever I would walk into my apartment with a frown on my face (probably due to a bad day at work or in class), one of my roommates would inevitably say “I’ll put the kettle on” before I could even take my coat off.
Second, it is a tradition. Tea is so much a part of British culture that you can’t witness someone trying to do a ridiculous British accent without saying something about having a “cuppa tea!”
Third, it is a sign of camaraderie and friendship. When you invite someone into your home, it is almost considered rude if you don’t offer them a cup of tea at some point during their visit.
Tea is so huge in the UK that no kitchen is complete without an electric kettle, perfect for brewing up a hot cup in minutes! I can’t live without mine now- it has become essential to my everyday life.
My desk at work houses a huge assortment of tea, primarily Choice Organic Tea, Revolution Tea, and Zhena’s Gypsy Tea. I usually try to drink green tea, primarily due to its health benefits and great taste, and I love trying any new combination of flavors, especially fruity ones.
Now that I have completely rambled on and on about my love for the stuff, I want to know what you think about it! What is your favorite flavor? How about your favorite brand? How often do you drink it? I’d love to hear if there are any other tea-crazed people out there :)
