Voskos Greek Yogurt Rules!
The people at Voskos are awesome! A couple of months ago, they sent us four flavored varieties of their Voskos Greek yogurt. Not only did we review it, but we also created a video all about the yogurt, which you can see here. But I never really shared my own personal view of the yogurt. Keep reading to find out what I thought.
Let me preface my review by saying that I’m obsessed with Greek yogurt. Alright, I am a little biased. When you’ve been eating Greek yogurt since you were a kid, it’s hard not to like it. My grandparents always make their own yogurt so I don’t always buy it from the store. But the yogurt that I usually it is just plain. When I’m looking to change up the flavor to get some fruit involved, Voskos is perfect.
Here is a shortened version of my review. You can read my full review, and the reviews of all the other editors here.
Blended Exotic Fig – The first thing I liked about this yogurt was the color. It was eye-catching and really enticed me. I don’t eat figs very often, and I have never had fig-flavored yogurt. It was thick and had a pretty bold flavor.
Blended Wild Blueberry – I don’t really enjoy yogurt with fruit, but I was taken aback by how much I enjoyed this flavor. It was the creamiest one, and it had just enough of a kick. I loved the little pieces of blueberry.
Honey Vanilla Bean – I usually eat my yogurt as breakfast, and this flavor seemed more dessert-like to me. It had the consistency of pudding, and for someone who prefers their yogurt to be sweet, this one would be perfect.
Blended Greek Honey – I add my own honey to my Greek yogurt in the morning, so already having some delicious honey in the yogurt saves me an extra step. I would definitely purchase this flavor.
Here are some other reasons why Voskos Greek yogurt rules:
1. It can help you lose weight! More and more studies are showing that low-fat yogurt can help contribute to steady weight loss.
2. Everyone needs protein. I tend to stay away from a lot of meat, but Greek yogurt is my favorite way to get the protein my body needs. Voskos Greek Yogurt contains 24g of protein!
3. Skip the milk for calcium, try Voskos instead. An 8-ounce serving of most yogurts provides 450 mg. of calcium! I don’t like milk too much, so if my yogurt can also take care of the calcium, that’s great for me!
4. I have a very mild case of lactose intolerance which flairs up when I have too much milk or cheese (pizza kills me!), but I never have any problems with Greek yogurt. Plus, Voskos is made with active and live probiotic cultures, which convert lactose to lactic acid, making it more easily digestible.
You can also use Voskos yogurt in tons of yummy (and healthy!) recipes. Here are a few to start you off:
Vanilla Greek Yogurt Muffins – These simple muffins are delicate and moist. They are great with coffee (for the grownups) or with milk (for the kids).
Orange Greek Yogurt Cake - This light, moist cake is delicious, but not too sweet!
Chocolate Chip Cupcakes – These amazing cupcakes are topped with Heath Bar English toffee bits!
Currant Almond Cupcakes – These cupcakes are coated in a thin, creamy yogurt-based glaze. Try using Voskos Greek Yogurt for best flavor.
Big Fat Greek French Toast - You won’t believe how amazing this french toast is! It uses apple cinnamon bread and Voskos Greek yogurt!
