A Wedding in Michigan
Every time I go to a wedding, I absolutely need to take a picture of the cake. I love to check out the different designs and if the cake is traditional or modern. The cake at the last wedding I went to was really pretty, with black and red offsetting the whiteness of the cake. The best part of this cake? Not only did it look breathtaking, but it tastes great too. It seemed like a normal white/vanilla interior, but the frosting was the best part. It seemed like a type of cream cheese frosting, which is my personal favorite. Read about the rest of the food after the jump!
The wedding took place in Michigan, so it was a long five-hour drive to get there. Starving seems like the perfect word to describe my feeling after the church service finally ended. When we finally got the to the reception, there we little appetizer being served. One was kind of like a bruschetta topped with lox. I hated it! The other was a type of chicken flat-bread, and that was yummy!
When we finally sat at the table, we were saved a normal salad. I don’t particularly like salad, but I did my best to eat half of it before I passed it over to my boyfriend.
Instead of soup as the next course, we were served delicious pasta with marinara. This is the first time that I’ve ever had pasta as one of the courses at a wedding, and it was a nice change of pace from soup.
For the main course, we were served a piece of steak, a delicious piece of chicken slathered in some mystery sauce, a few green beans and a couple potato balls. The steak was a little too rare for my taste. Pink meat gives me the willies. The chicken was to-die-for! I would have rather had another piece of that, and traded in the steak. The green beans were also really tasty. They were crispy and fresh. The potatoes were really filling, so I only managed to have one.
Overall, the appetizers weren’t very good at the wedding. The salad was decent, whereas the pasta was a great surprise. The main course was above average, and the cake was out-of-this-world.
Congrats to Tommy and Allison!
