Mom’s Meat Spaghetti Sauce
My mom is one of the best cooks I know. She knows how to add the right spices to any dish to give it a flavorful kick, and her meat spaghetti sauce recipe is no exception. Usually she just uses fresh tomatoes for this recipe, but this time, things were a little different. She was testing Pomi Chopped Tomatoes, a brand that she had never tried before. See how it turned out after the jump.
Here’s my mom’s yummy recipe for Meat Spaghetti Sauce:
* 1 onion, chopped
* 1/2 stick butter
* 1 lb. ground beef
* 1 tsp. cinnamon
* 1 tsp. sugar
* salt, to taste
* pepper, to taste
* 1 26-oz. box Pomi brand chopped tomatoes
* 1 C. hot water
Brown onion with butter in a skillet. Add the ground beef and brown. Add the cinnamon, sugar and salt and pepper to taste. Add some oregano. Add the Pomi tomatoes. Simmer for 45 minutes. Add hot water if you think it needs more liquid.
It only takes about one hour to makes this flavorful sauce. You can also cook pasta or rice at the same time. I absolutely loved this dish, and my mom loved the Pomi as well. Here’s what she said:
“I’ve made this recipe many times, but I’ve never used Pomi Chopped Tomatoes before. My whole family really liked the fresh tomato taste of the Pomi. I would definitely buy them.”
