Cocktail Hour: Awesome Apple Martini
Last week, I told you about all the different apple martinis I was planning to make, so here is the first one! This was called the Awesome Apple Martini, so I was excited to see how awesome it really was!
This recipe caught my eye because it actually used real apple juice to flavor the cocktail. Here’s what you need:
* 1 oz. apple schnapps
* 1 oz. vodka
* 1 oz. apple juice
* 1 slice Granny Smith apple for garnish
The ingredients were simple; just throw the ingredients together in a cocktail shaker with ice, mix, and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with an apple, if possible; I didn’t happen to have one on hand.
I don’t know what color I expected this martini to be, but I definitely wasn’t expecting neon green. It kind of looked like something an alien would drink. It smelled great, however, so I dove in!
The first sip was definitely a delight! You could taste each ingredient; the vodka, the apple schnapps, and the apple juice, but they also blended together very well. What I really liked about this drink was that it had some natural apple flavor to it. So many apple martinis have apple pucker/schnapps and just that. After a few sips, those drinks can start to taste too artificial and too sweet. The apple juice in this martini made it really easy to keep sipping and enjoying.
I would make this drink again in a second (next time with some fun apple garnishes!) It’d be a fun drink at a martini party or even a Halloween party! Call it “green slime” or something and you’ve got an instant Halloween hit!
Next week, I’ll move further down my list of apple martinis and try a different variation. See you then!
