Cocktail Hour: Red Apple Martini

Hey, folks!  This week’s cocktail, the Red Apple Martini,  combines the flavors of cranberry, apple, and vodka.  It’s a little different (prettier!) version of  the Absolut Apple I made a while ago and it’s super easy to make!  Here’s how you do it…Here’s what you need:

* 1 Part(s) Vodka
* 1 Part(s) Sour Apple Liqueur
* 1 Part(s) Cranberry Juice
* 1 Garnish Apple Slices

(see full recipe here!)

I didn’t have an apple slice to garnish with this week, but are you really surprised?  I never have the right garnishes!

Because the recipe is in parts and not ounces, I just change each part to an ounce.  Therefore, I used 1 oz. vodka, 1 oz. sour apple liqueur, and 1 oz. cranberry juice.  All you need to do to make this is shake the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and strain it into a martini glass.   Then, you are free to sip away!

This cocktail was pretty strong to begin with.  You could definitely taste the vodka. The taste of vodka wasn’t overpowering, but it certainly did make a strong impression for about the first half of the drink.  As I continued to sip, it seemed to get less and less strong, but I’m pretty sure that happens with every drink!  The flavor was alright- it was pretty fruity and easy to drink (with the exception of the bite of the vodka every once in a while).

Overall, I’m pretty ambivalent about this one.  I don’t have a strong feeling about it either way. I’m not dying to make another one, but I wouldn’t turn one down if someone gave it to me.  I’d say it’s worth a try, if you can handle the flavor of vodka.

Or you could try any of these apple martinis (all of which I plan to make soon!):

    That drink looks absolutely delicious! Something to end a day at work with a yummy drink treat. Which reminds me, I got to get a new cocktail shaker. I can’t seem to find mine anywhere in my cupboards. I think someone borrowed it but can’t remember who.
