Quick and Easy 4th of July Party

flag

I absolutely love 4th of July. Since I was a kid, my uncle would set off fireworks in the backyard as we’d run for cover and pray we wouldn’t get hit. This holiday means fun, delicious food and best of all…fireworks. The weather is always pretty toasty too!

Usually my aunt and uncle, the same one who’d set off fireworks, host a barbecue. They do a fabulous job, grilling burgers and hot dogs. Other relatives bring the potato salad, other salads and a ton of desserts. Needless to say, everyone chips in, in someway or another.

With that in mind, 4th of July parties shouldn’t be too complicated. The menus are pretty standard. The activities usually consist of eating, socializing and fireworks. Stress simply does not work on 4th of July. Everyone, including the host and/or hostess, should be smiling and having a fun time.

I’m here to lend you a hand on this patriotic holiday, especially if you’re the one throwing the party. Recipe4Living has taken care of the menu for you, and left you with a bunch of quick and easy 4th of July recipes that will alleviate any stress that tries to pop up. I’ve also included a personal favorite that I think you’ll enjoy.

Appetizers – I’m a chip and dip kind of girl. The problem is that I tend to overeat during the appetizer stage, and don’t leave much room for the really good stuff. I’d recommend not going overboard on the appetizers.

Mozzarella Skewers

Creamy Red Pepper Dip with Vegetables
My Personal Favorite: Cheesy Spinach Balls

Main Courses – Meat! Get ready with the grill because this is the absolute most important part of the meal. If you overcook or undercook the meat, you’ll not only have an empty stomach but you’re guests won’t be too pleased.

Grilled Pork Ribs
Jalapeno Cheeseburger
My Personal Favorite: Grilled Rosemary Shrimp

Sides – I’m a sucker for potatoes, and potato salad really does hit the spot during the summer.

All American Potato Salad
Jazzed Up Cole Slaw
My Personal Favorite: Chilled Italian Mostaccioli Salad

Desserts – I’ve never seen a flag cake, but I’m guessing it’s pretty awesome. Why not impress your guests with it?

Barefoot Contessa’s Flag Cake

4th of July Pie
My Personal Favorite: Peach and Blueberry Crisp
