“The Next Food Network Star” Season 6!

The new season of “The Next Food Network Star” starts on June 6th and I’m so excited to see this year’s competitors!  The show features 12 chefs with serious personality that compete to have their own series on The Food Network

Each competitor has to create a kind of “culinary point-of-view” that will be the basis for their show.  Each week, the chefs are involved in challenges, from cooking competitions to mock TV spots.  Each week, one person is eliminated by a panel of judges made up of celebrity chef Bobby  Flay and two Food Network executives.  The winner is offered a 6-episode series on the channel.

Several winners of this show have gone on to be quite successful in the food world.  Guy Fieri, the second season winner, has gone on to star in several different series, including Guy’s Big Bite, Ultimate Recipe Showdown, Guy Off the Hook, and Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.  He has also made guest-appearances on several other programs and in TGI Friday’s commercials.

Others winner and finalists have gone on to see a modest success, sometimes with their series continuing on for 2 or 3 seasons.  I often feel that shows that claim to create “stars” never really do.  I mean, you rarely see “America’s Next Top Models” in the news or on the cover of a magazine, do you?

Nevertheless, I’m excited to watch this season of “The Next Food Network Star.”  There are bound to be some characters, some drama, and some good-lookin’ food!  Watch the 2-hour premiere on June 6th at 9pm Eastern time on The Food Network.

We can only hope that the judges do a better job this time than when they voted Melissa the winner. Noone could figure out how she became the winner, then everyone figured it out, she paid someone off. After all she did cheat, and we won’t even go into all the crying jags she had, it was getting a little rediculas. Hopefully the judges have learned something from the big, huge, gigantic mistake when she won.
