Cocktail Hour: The Nutty Professor
Welcome to another edition of Cocktail Hour, where I test out your favorite alcoholic beverages. While last week’s Brave Bull was, more or less, a disaster, this week’s super-sweet cocktail was an all-around hit! This fantastic combination of vanilla vodka, hazelnut liqueur, and butterscotch shnapps makes for a cocktail that is easy to drink and kind to your tastebuds.
Here’s the recipe:
1 oz. Frangelico hazelnut liqueur
1 oz. vanilla vodka
1 oz. butterscotch shnapps
Simply throw the ingredients into a shaker with ice, mix it up, and serve it one of two ways. You can either pour it into a martini glass on its own or into an old-fashioned glass with ice. I chose the latter. Here’s what it looks like:
I was surprised to find that this cocktail turned out to be a pale yellow color. For some reason I thought that it would be brown. It smelled deliciously sweet- much better than the tear-inducing Brave Bull!
The first sip was delicious. My initial reaction was that it tasted like Bailey’s, but less creamy. During the next few sips, I tasted more of the nutty flavor that gives the drink its namesake. My roommate suggested that the butterscotch flavor stood out more- “It tastes just like a butterscotch dum-dum!” No matter what flavor stands out to you more, this drink definitely tastes like candy.
Because The Nutty Professor is so sugary-sweet, it took me a looong time to drink it. But I definitely enjoyed every sip. Essentially, this cocktail is a girly drink with a not-so-girly appearance. Perfect for a ladies’ night, a birthday, or just an after-dinner treat, the Nutty Professor is one drink that will seriously satisfy your sweet tooth!
