Call it a coincidence, call it irony, the month of October is actually National Dental Hygiene Month. Yes, while we’re preparing for Halloween with sweet treats like Halloween Goblin Balls or Butterfinger Eyeballs, we’re really supposed to be watching out for our teeth. That means brushing well, flossing, and even rinsing our mouths with mouthwash from time to time. But most importantly, it means eating the right foods to help take care of our teeth.

Recipe4Living put together a list of 10 Foods That Won’t Rot Your Teeth to help you observe National Dental Hygiene Month.

Cut back on foods that contain sugar and drinks that are high in teeth-staining pigments like coffees and teas. Increase the amount of foods with calcium to promote healthy bones and tooth health, as well as foods with crunchy textures to help loosen up more dangerous foods.

Here are 5 recipes to start:

Crunchy Tuna Salad Wrap – The crunch of celery, water chestnuts, and pecans makes for an interesting wrap.
