Chicago James Beard Foundation Award Nominees

jamesbeard

Every year, the best in the food and wine industry are honored at the James Beard Foundation Awards. This laborious process of determining who is the best of the best can do wonders for a restaurant’s business. The reception to announce the winners in each category will take place in New York on May 3rd and 4th  but the official nominees were announced this past Monday. I am fortunate enough to live in a city with many James Beard Award nominees and I hope to have the opportunity to taste the fine work of these restaurants one day.

In the meantime, the nominees from Chicago are…

OUTSTANDING CHEF

Jean Joho, Everest, Chicago
Paul Kahan, Blackbird, Chicago

Other non-Chicago nominees worth mentioning include: Tom Colicchio of Craft, NYC (the head judge on Top Chef) and Dan Barber, Blue Hill, NYC (who was featured in Top Chef New York).
