Top Chef: The Finale


Well, we have a winner. And it’s certainly not who any of us expected. Cooking the best three course meal of your life without any guidelines can sometimes be more daunting than having guidelines and that led our fan favorite to falter and our egotistical predicted winner to become, well too egotistical.  I’ve complained about the outcome here, here and here, but now that I’ve sat down to write this blog, I think I have some different opinions. Guinness Chocolate Cupcakes with Bailey’s Frosting

Ah, the Irish car bomb: a mixture of Bailey’s Irish Cream and Jameson Whiskey dropped into a pint of Guinness stout, it’s essentially a celebration of all the delicious alcoholic beverages that hail from the country of Ireland. Forgive me if you’re offended by the name, but this is how I was introduced to the drink. Guiness mixed with a shot of Jameson and Bailey’s is something I learned to love and learned to hate  in my college days but haven’t experienced since. Or at least, not until Smitten Kitchen introduced me to her car bomb cupcakes!

Free Pancake Day at IHOP


It’s not too late to grab your free pancakes at IHOP! In honor of Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day, the restaurant is giving away free pancakes from 7 am to 10 pm to help symbolize the last splurge before Lent begins tomorrow. In exchange for a free short stack (3 pancakes), IHOP asks that you consider donating to Children’s Miracle Network. So far, they’ve raised $35,000 nationwide.
