The Perfect Place for Sunday Brunch
It isn’t often that I consider breakfast the best meal of my day. I often overlook the quality of my breakfast (or lack thereof) in lieu of satisfying lunches and even more exciting dinners. But the other day breakfast took on a starring role. Not only was I able to Wake Up With A Sunday Brunch, but the food itself was a step up from the usual breakfast fare. Imagine an omelet filled with three different cheeses and sun-dried tomatoes, complemented by a side of homemade pesto sauce. I nearly drooled at the description myself. So, if you’re in need of a budget-friendly brunch location in Chicago, I’d like to recommend Sunrise Cafe. The prices were reasonable, the service was great, and the food was undeniably delicious.
They offer daily specials of pancakes including many of the usuals like chocolate chip. David and I both wanted an omelet and these pancakes so we decided to split chocolate chip pancakes and the three cheese omelet.
We both couldn’t get over how delicious and unconventional the omelet was. The pesto sauce tasted extremely fresh and we both just wanted to smother our whole breakfast in it. I only wish you could order half pancakes, half omelet but if you have a sharing partner, that works too.

More importantly, it got me thinking about fresh ideas for breakfast. Pesto sauce, feta cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes aren’t typically ingredients I associate with breakfast or omelets. What sorts of recipes do you have that are outside of the box?
