The Local Presidential Cookie Poll

Now that both the Democratic and Republican conventions are over, it’s time we answered the question on all our minds: Who would you rather take a bite out of? Ok, so maybe that’s not exactly the question you were expecting, but be you an Obama supporter or a McCain follower, you now have the option of eating both presidential hopefuls in cookie form! Max and Benny’s, a local Northbrook deli, has sweetened up the election with cookie representations of both presidential tickets.

I bet neither candidate ever thought that their faces would one day be painted on delicious sugar cookies, but hey, it’s America and anything can happen! The cookies were designed by Ben Schlan, son of the owners of Max and Benny’s (can you tell where they got the name?). I think they add a fun twist to the election.

Max and Benny’s bakery carries all different types of characters in their cookie counter from the infamous head coaches of the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Cubs, to Dora the Explorer, Elmo, Snoopy and even Spongebob Squarepants. While each cookie is $4.95, they’re all very carefully decorated and make adorable gifts. Vice presidential nominee cookies will soon be sold in their bakery as well. Here is a sneak preview of the Joe Biden cookie (Sarah Palin to come):

And I don’t know about you, but I think these cookies are perfect for planning an election party. Invite your family and friends over to celebrate your candidate and show your support. If you need menu ideas, we’ve got them! And if you need cookies, well, you know where to go.
