Pizza Party

I’ve always loved pizza. It’s just one of those foods that is just plain good. I like to think I’m not alone in this, that everyone has a kind of pizza they like because to me, it’s just that kind of food. It can be made so many different ways. For me, I like how the gooiness of the cheese, the flavor of the sauce, and the irresistible crust meld together to form the perfect and most universal harmony I’ve ever seen in food. But what I didn’t know was just how much better pizza gets when you make it yourself.

And that’s just what we did. It was pizza night for my family and I and we spent the evening chopping up our toppings, slathering our sauce and sprinkling our cheese. My brother and sister-in-law had a box full of par-baked pizza crusts just waiting to be topped with all sorts of delicious pizza goodness.

We made 7 different pizzas with varying combinations of pineapple, black olives, mushrooms, green pepper, and diced tomatoes. The cheese was mozzarella and the sauce was a garlic marinara pasta sauce, both of which made for perfect pizzas. My personal favorites were the mushroom and black olive or the pineapple pizzas, though many of the others made for very pretty presentations.

You can see the artistic display my brother was going for in his pineapple green pepper pizza. A little bit of color goes a long way.

Since the crust was par-baked, it only took about 10-15 minutes before we could indulge in pizza oblivion. Of course we waited for all 7 pizzas to be done before we actually ate them, which let me tell you was no easy task! I can only imagine how difficult it is to work in a pizza parlor, smelling pizza all day and not being able to eat it.

But making pizza yourself is something I highly recommend. Homemade pizza is just that much more delicious. So here are some recipes to help you on your way:

    Impressive! 7 pizzas in one go, and they all sound delicious. We made a traditional marinara pizza the other day, with the one addition of some anchovies and olives, and it came out perfect, which is strange! I say this because we have started making our own pizza crust, and this site made it an absolute cinch. It really makes a big difference to “roll your own”, and I recommend it to anyone.

    I couldn’t agree more. ever since we started making pizza at home we never have it delivered anymore since ours is so much better!

    Nice job! Love all the mushrooms on that first one.

    I never liked pizza but I just KNOW I would love it if it were homemade.

    However, as I’ve mentioned in the past, it has been my Achilles heel. I’ve failed at it twice now. I’m gonna try again though dammit!
