A bowl of fruit to feed an army

There are bowls of fruit. And then, there are bowls of fruit.

This happens to be a bowl of assorted apples and heirloom tomatoes (yes, tomatoes are still fruits.) I can’t take credit for it though. No, this giant bowl of fruit belongs to a friend and resides at her house. And let me tell you, there has never been a time when I’ve come over and this bowl hasn’t been fully stocked with gorgeous, colorful fruits. While often fresh from local farmer’s markets and obviously quite edible, this bowl can also be a great decoration to any kitchen. I always want to take it home to my house. But instead, I decided to take a picture and share it with all of you.

Do you keep a bowl of fruit out in your kitchen? And if so what do you stock it with?

I always have bananas in a bowl as I like them room temperature & find myself eating at least one a day. I must admit, other fruit I keep in the refrigerator. I prefer all other fruit really cold—especially apples. Honeycrisp season is soon!

I agree with JEP – I like my fruit cold. But I usually let it ripen in a bowl. In terms of decoration, I love the way citrus – especially lemons – look in a pretty bowl. Such an easy centerpiece!
